Discovering me
Ten things you probably don’t want to know about me (but I’m going to tell you anyway)
I live in the UK. The city of Bath to be precise. I’ve always lived in the South West, but I am slowly moving eastwards. Maybe I will have made it to London by the time I’m 40. This does mean that all my recipes are coming from a British girl’s perspective, but I promise to include cups and Americanisms wherever necessary.
This isn’t my day job, obviously. When I’m not making a mess with flour in the kitchen, I am sat behind a desk at a real life accountancy firm. You might think that accountants are dead boring, but hopefully I can convince you otherwise.
I have a wife, Katie. She’s pretty much the best, apart from her inability to stop talking when I want to have my say. She gives me her honest opinion if I ask for it, and she supports me in anything I want to do. Even if she’d rather be doing something else. Basically, she’s a keeper.
We got married in 2016. The wedding was so much fun, even if we pretty much did EVERYTHING ourselves. And yep, I did actually bake a four tier wedding cake. I wouldn’t advise you do the same. Wealth of delicious successes.
I studied Maths at University
In retrospect, that was a stupid decision, but I wouldn’t swap my uni experience for anything. I made some amazing friends there, and some spectacular mistakes, but it has shaped who I am today more than anything else ever has.
I do other things, not just baking.
I have probably spent the equivalent of two years of my life playing The Sims, and I don’t regret a second of it. I love creating non-edible things too, some of which will probably make their way onto this blog at some point. I love getting out there and seeing the world, but I also love spending the whole weekend in PJs and having a Shadowhunters marathon on Netflix.
For someone who is terrified of flying, I’m quite well travelled.
I spent two months of the summer after graduation road-tripping around the United States and Canada, which meant I had achieved my lifetime goal aged 22. It turns out that achieving life goals just makes me want to achieve them all over again, though.
